Did you know that of all the states and regions in the United States, DC has the most dentists per capita? If you want to find a dentist near you in DC, you don’t have to look far. The number of dentists per capita is one factor of many that went into determining states’ dental health rankings in this recent report. DC has been able to maintain this ranking year after year due to the dense population of the region, but the overall dental ranking of DC has dropped from third place to seventh, since we last reported on it.
As dentists, it’s disheartening to see this slip in ranking, especially since one of the factors DC lost ground on is the percentage of adults who have seen a dentist in the past year. We can’t stress enough how important it is to see a dentist regularly and not just when there is a dental emergency. When someone is suffering from dental pain or periodontal disease it could be a sign that dental issues are being addressed too late. In order to catch dental issues early before they become costlier more complex issues it’s recommended that people get a dental exam and cleaning at least every six months. While DC maintained its rank for percentage of adults who experience oral pain in the past year, as dentists in DC, we are concerned that this rank will not last long if people don’t visit the dentist often enough.
Since some people hesitate to go to the dentist because they are uninsured, our dental office offers an in-house dental insurance program powered by Kleer. This insurance plan completely covers regular cleanings, x-rays, and provides discounts on other procedures. Additionally, we offer dental financing through CareCredit if you ever need support with a more costly procedure such as dental implants. We want to help everyone do their part in getting DC’s dental rankings up.
If you live in DC and are looking for a dentist, we’d love to welcome you to our downtown DC dental office. Our practice is highly rated online and offers a wide range of dental service that can help you no matter what life throws at you.
